Ig Henneman and Janco Verduin selected for the ‘ISCM: World Music Days 2024’
On January 30, 2024, the ISCM committee announced its decision regarding the selection of works by Dutch composers to be presented during the annual festival. Among others, the international committee of the ISCM has chosen the works of Ig Henneman and Janco Verduin for this year.
ISCM; the World Music Days
The ‘World Music Days,’ organized by the ‘International Society for Contemporary Music’ (ISCM), is an annual festival hosted by a different country each year. During this festival, new works from around the world are performed.
This year, the international committee of the ISCM has selected works by Ig Henneman and Janco Verduin, among others.
The pieces ‘Outside the Rain has Stopped’ by Ig Henneman and ‘Korenveld met Kraaien’ by Janco Verduin will be performed during the festival from June 22 to June 30, 2024, in the Faroe Islands. Congratulations to both!
For this festival, a pre-selection is made by participating countries. In September 2023, the Netherlands made a selection through the national jury, consisting of Alison Isadora, Yu Oda, and Huba de Graaff. This year’s nominations for works included:
- Ig Henneman – Outside the Rain has Stopped
- Ivan Vukosavljevic – The Ladder
- Janco Verduin – Korenveld met kraaien
- Petra Strahovnik – Attack
- Ricardo Huisman – Sudden Day Dream, (in)somnia (co)incidental diversity
- Tilen Lebar – Hassan
