Changes in composition regulations at the Performing Arts Fund (Fonds Podiumkunsten)
Nieuw Geneco has successfully advocated for improvements in the guidelines for the work contribution and composition commissioning schemes.
Nieuw Geneco has successfully advocated for several adjustments in the guidelines of the Performing Arts Fund (Fonds Podiumkunsten) for both the work contribution scheme and the commissioning scheme.
The changes as they are now incorporated are highlighted in bold below. These revised guidelines can now be viewed on the website of the Performing Arts Fund under the respective schemes. (In Dutch)
When it comes to the work contribution scheme (werkbijdrage), the emphasis on development has been made clearer.
Wijzigingen in de aanmeldprocedure voor de werkbijdrage:
Bij ‘activiteiten’ de teksten met de aanpassingen in vette letters:
– Geef zo concreet mogelijk een muziek inhoudelijke beschrijving van het werk/de werken die u wilt schrijven en/of de activiteit die u wilt uitvoeren.
– Beschrijf hoe het plan bijdraagt aan uw artistieke/compositorische ontwikkeling, ten opzichte van wat u in het verleden heeft gedaan waarbij u reflecteert op eerder werk, bijvoorbeeld het voorgedragen werk. Beschrijf welke verdieping, verbreding en/of nieuwe richting u voor ogen heeft met het te schrijven werk.
– Beschrijf hoe het plan bijdraagt aan het versterken of verbreden van uw beroepspraktijk.
Furthermore, what was previously titled ‘Performance Possibilities’ (Uitvoeringsmogelijkheden), now Audience Approach (Publieksbenadering), has shifted the focus more towards the ‘approach’ rather than placing questions about performances at the top.
– Op welke manier werkt u samen met andere partners?
– Op welke wijze gaat u uitvoeringskansen van het voorgenomen werk bevorderen?
It is still possible to include a score of the submitted work along with an application, in addition to a link to audio.
Finally, the changes in the composition commissioning scheme: An additional attachment is now requested (in addition to the composer’s CV and the contract):
– Een korte toelichting van de muziek- en tekst auteur(s) op de verstrekte opdracht en de beoogde invulling daarvan (maximaal 400 woorden).
In this way, the composer himself is given a voice in the application.
Nieuw Geneco is pleased with the adjustments made by the Performing Arts Fund. This largely resolves the discrepancy between the intention of the scheme and how it is reflected in the guidelines.
