Willem Pijper Prize 2024

On Saturday, June 1st, the Willem Pijper Prize 2023 will be awarded to two composers: Cecilia Arditto Delsoglio and Trevor Grahl, in the Amare Concert Hall. This year, two winners have been chosen due to the exceptional quality of the submissions.

Cecilia Arditto Delsoglio receives the prize for her orchestral work “Tissue” (2019), which the jury considers hypnotic. The piece will be performed by the Symphony Orchestra of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam after the award ceremony.

Trevor Grahl is awarded for his work “Music for Malmö” (2019) for solo organ and electronics. The jury appreciates his innovative use of the organ.

The award ceremony is curated by the Johan Wagenaar Foundation in collaboration with the municipality of The Hague. The event on June 1st is organized by ‘Festival Dag in de Branding’ and will take place at the concert hall Amare in The Hague.

In addition to the award ceremony, an additional concert will take place at the Orgelpark in Amsterdam on Sunday afternoon, June 2nd. Two works by both composers will be performed there.

Previous winners of the Willem Pijper Prize include Hugo Morales Murguía and Yannis Kyriakides.
