General Assembly of Members of New Geneco

On May 28th, the General Assembly of Members of New Geneco took place at the GROND breeding ground in the Bajeskwartier.

Besides a financial review of the past season with director Esther Gottschalk and chairman Andrée van Es, Viktorien van Hulst and Ron Ford from the Performing Arts Fund (FPK) were guests to update the attending members on developments in the cultural world, with specific attention to fund application and distribution. Members of Nieuw Geneco had the opportunity to ask open questions to the two representatives of the FPK. This led to thorough discussions between the composers and the fund. Viktorien van Hulst emphasized the interests and wishes of the composers while also acknowledging the challenging situation in the arts sector. With an eye on the upcoming right-wing government, the FPK does not foresee possibilities for tailored arrangements for composers of new music, but nevertheless indicates that the FPK will highlight the position of the artist in their contact with the ministry.
