Development of workshop with De Nationale Opera and Nieuw Geneco
After the fruitful sessions in collaboration with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and the Residentie Orkest, the first steps have now been taken towards a workshop on Opera/Music Theatre of Today, in collaboration with De Nederlandse Opera.
Nieuw Geneco is in discussions with De Nationale Opera about setting up a workshop titled ‘Muziektheater van nu’. A workshop provides an opportunity to exchange strategies and best practices concerning the development of music theatre by actively involved composers in the Netherlands, in relation to current topics for a contemporary audience.
Nieuw Geneco and De Nationale Opera invite all opera and music theatre companies, festival organizers, and policymakers in the Netherlands to share ideas on composition commissions, repertoire development, and audience engagement during these workshops. The following topics have been mentioned for this workshop:
- Audience and repertoire development
- Artistic and societal impact
- Talent development and career opportunities
- Co-commissions
- International opportunities
- Repertoire development
- Fair Practice and Fair Pay
- Contracts and Rights (grand rights)
- Sustainable collaborations
