With the annual presentation of the Nieuw Geneco Fair Practice Award, Nieuw Geneco aims to draw attention to good commissioning practices through good examples.
Nieuw Geneco Fair Practice Award
On Friday 6 September, the Nieuw Geneco Fair Practice Award will be presented for the fifth time. By presenting the Award, New Geneco focuses attention on fair practice, fee guidelines and good commissioning practices in new music. Good examples are honoured. Composers from Nieuw Geneco made a reasoned nomination, based on their experiences with clients.
From over 30 nominations, the jury compiled the following shortlist.
Shortlist Nieuw Geneco Fair Practice Award 2024:
- Bauwien van der Meer (project Van donker naar licht and the accompanying CD La Lumière)
- Calefax (project Strandbeest Zingt)
- Koninklijk Concertgebouworkest (project M.C. Escher’s Imagination)
- Pleintheater (project Summer of Music artist residency at Plein Theater)
- Ricciotti Ensemble (project Fantastische Vrouwentour – Be Witched)
- Samenwerkende Muziekverenigingen Leeuwarden (SML) for the project Grutte Pier, as the conclusion of the Music with a SMiLe project and the opening of the Taptoe Leeuwarden 2024))
- Wonderfeel (project Wonderfeel 10 x 10 Composers)
Walk-in on Friday 6 September 2024 is from 13.30. Programme starts at 14.00, drinks start at 17.00. Beforehand, you are welcome to attend the (freely accessible) lunch-time concert by Trio Catch in TivoliVredenburg. After the meeting, the Gaudeamus Festival will continue in the evening with concerts and performances by, among others, Kate Moore, Maat Saxophone Quartet & de Diamantfabriek (Nuno Lobo) and New European String Quartet.
