Congratulations to Petra Strahovnik, Jeroen Leentjens and Arjan Linker!
Nieuw Geneco congratulates Petra Strahovnik, Jeroen Leentjens and Arjan Linker, all three of whom have received special recognition.
Petra Strahovnik received the Prešeren Fund Award, Slovenia’s highest cultural honour, for her groundbreaking work in the field of composition and sound research. As stated on the official website of the Republic of Slovenia: “The Prešeren Award is given to artists who have permanently enriched Slovenian cultural heritage with their outstanding artistic achievements during their lifetime’s work.”

Jeroen Leentjens won the Alba Rosa Viëtor / Calefax Composers Competition 2025 with Radimlja, in which his unique blend of classical, jazz, folk and electronica is clearly audible.The piece is ‘a mature composition inspired by Bosnian gravestones and folk music that evokes numerous emotionally charged images,’ according to a review in the Volkskrant newspaper.

Arjan Linker received the Buma Classical Award 2025 for his versatile and innovative contribution to the musical field, in which he combines Western classical music with Indian influences, among other sounds. ‘He received the Buma Classical Award 2025 for his remarkable presence in the cultural circuit over the past two years, both with his own compositions and arrangements,’ says Buma Cultuur.
